The commercial business space partner for post-launch servicing showcases latest technology

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (October 10, 2025) – Arkisys™, a provider of on-orbit services on long-duration platforms for post launch applications announces public presentation of, “Astrobee Returns to Flight: Re-igniting Robotic Research and Innovation on the ISS”, as part of a16z’s LA Tech Week 2025, hosted at the University of South California Information Sciences Institute on Oct.13.

Arkisys’ opening session at LA Tech Week 2025 comes at a critical time following the company’s most recent partnership with NASA, selected as the maintainer and sustaining commercial company to leverage Arkisys space infrastructure goals with NASA’s robotic research system, Astrobee.

Arkisys CEO David Barnhart emphasizes the momentum this project holds and his excitement towards sharing it with the public, stating that, “Astrobee is more than a robot, it’s a vessel for innovation enabling the next generation of possibilities in orbit. We’re honored to be able to share this project with the public and open opportunities across the globe to pave the way for the future of in-space servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM) ideas to take flight.”

This session showcases past users of Astrobee and presents some ideas for the exciting innovations it offers. Through the powerful relationship between Arkisys’ Port Module’s design built for long-duration, multi-use missions, that enable customers of any size to test, build, and grow revenue post launch, Astrobee and the ISS will bring to life reliable, long-term space market development and growth in space servicing.

“Astrobee Returns to Flight” is the first milestone in returning this unique orbital facility to operations, showcasing how new ideas can be brought to space on a large scale. The presentation unveils Astrobee’s planned schedule for returning to flight, as well as defining new opportunities for cross-sector collaboration spanning academia, industry, and government opportunities for involvement.
