Moon Young Kim, Research Fellow

Moon Young Kim is the Fellow at the Center for Space Crime, Piracy & Governance. Her research interests focus on the intersection of human factors, cybersecurity, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Recently, Moon Young served as a consultant to the Center for New American Security’s (CNAS) Technology and National Security Program. Prior to taking a ten-year caregiving break, she was an Adjunct Fellow for CNAS’ Indo-Pacific Security Program, focusing on the North Korea threat. She also served as a Research Associate for the East Asia Program at the Stimson Center, as well as a Graduate Associate for the Korea Institute.

Moon Young is currently a PhD candidate in Systems Engineering at the University of Virginia. She also possesses master’s degrees in systems engineering from the University of Virginia and in East Asian Languages & Civilizations from Harvard University. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Diplomatic History from the University of Pennsylvania.
